TCU's Miller won't play in CFP title game vs. Georgia
TCU running back Kendre Miller was ruled out of the College Football Playoff National Championship against Georgia due to a knee injury.
Miller is dealing with an MCL sprain that's partially healed. He took part in warmups wearing a brace on his right knee and appeared unable to do any cutting at full speed.
Emari Demercado, who rushed for a career-high 150 yards in the Fiesta Bowl against Michigan, was named the starting tailback prior to kickoff.
Miller noted that doctors had left the decision on whether he plays Monday to him. He rushed for 58 yards in the Fiesta Bowl before being sidelined due to the injury.
"It's kind of like a 50-50, but I'll most definitely suit up either way and try," Miller told reporters Saturday, according to ESPN's Heather Dinich.
The junior tailback became the first player in the history of the Big 12 to record a rushing touchdown in 13 games in a season. His 17 touchdowns are the fourth-highest total in program history and the most since LaDainian Tomlinson's 22 scores in 2000.
Miller racked up 1,399 yards for 6.25 yards per carry this season.
