Colorado made over $300K from Deion's 1st spring game
Deion Sanders' first spring football game as head coach at Colorado turned out to be a profitable event for the school.
Colorado athletic director Rick George told Buff Zone's Brian Howell that the April 22 game generated a net profit of around $200,000 from ticket sales and concessions, plus another $123,000 from merchandise sales.
"Just the merchandise sales was the largest we've had of any home game this past year, so that in itself was good," George said. "Obviously, when you have 47,000 people there, there's revenue that's generated from that and concessions.
"It was positive revenue for us, and it was really good exposure for us to be on national TV. It was a good day for Colorado athletics."
Colorado set a new school attendance record at the spring game, beating the previous high of 17,800 set in 2008.
The Buffaloes have already sold out of their season tickets for the upcoming college football season - the first time they've done so since 1996.
