Beck skipping draft, staying at Georgia for senior season
Georgia quarterback Carson Beck will return to the Bulldogs for the 2024 season, he announced Monday.
"My friends and family have helped put me in a situation to have options for my future," Beck said. "However, the NFL can wait one more year."
Beck helped lead the Bulldogs to a 12-0 mark in his first season as the full-time starter. Georgia suffered its only loss of the campaign in the SEC championship game to Alabama.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound junior passed for 3,738 yards, 22 touchdowns, and six interceptions this year. He also ran in for four scores on the ground.
Beck garnered interest as a top passing prospect in the upcoming NFL draft but is now one of the early front-runners to win next year's Heisman Trophy.
The Bulldogs lack depth behind their starter; backup Brock Vandagriff transferred to Kentucky following the regular season. Gunner Stockton is the only other quarterback on the roster to attempt a pass during the regular season. Georgia holds a commit from one passer in the 2024 recruiting class after five-star prospect Dylan Raiola flipped his verbal pledge from the Bulldogs to Nebraska on Monday.
