2022 No. 1 recruit Walter Nolen transfers to Ole Miss
Former Texas A&M defensive lineman Walter Nolen has committed to Ole Miss, he announced Sunday.
Nolen was a five-star prospect and the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2022 class when he joined the Aggies, per ESPN 300. He visited Ole Miss' campus last weekend after visiting Oregon the week before.
"This past month has been wild, but with the help of my family and closest friends, I have come to the fact that my time in College Station has come to an end," Nolen said, per Hayes Fawcett of On3. "I want to thank the 12th man for taking a chance on a kid out of Memphis, TN. Thank you coach E for helping me grow in more ways than I ever thought."
He added: "With that being said, I would like to announce I will be attending the University of Ole Miss for my last two years of eligibility. I want to thank Oregon for taking a chance on me in the portal, but I feel God has a different plan for me and my family."
The 20-year-old played in 22 contests over two years at Texas A&M, racking up 37 tackles and five sacks.
Nolen entered the transfer portal after co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Elijah Robinson departed for Syracuse.
The Tennessee native is the newest addition to the Rebels via the transfer portal. Head coach Lane Kiffin also secured a commitment from former South Carolina wide receiver Antwane "Juice" Wells.
