Ole Miss' Judkins to enter transfer portal
Ole Miss star running back Quinshon Judkins will enter the transfer portal, he announced Thursday.
"This decision to enter into the transfer portal was not made lightly, but I believe it is the best decision for my personal and athletic growth," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Judkins racked up 2,725 yards and 34 total scores during his Ole Miss tenure.
The Alabama native is the first SEC tailback since Herschel Walker to rush for 15 or more touchdowns in each of his first two collegiate seasons.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Judkins made an immediate impact upon joining the Rebels. He rushed for 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns en route to being named 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year.
Judkins tallied 1,158 yards to go along with 17 total touchdowns in 2023.
His departure could be a huge blow for an Ole Miss team that's made headlines for its transfer portal additions. Defensive linemen Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen are among the biggest names set to join the Rebels next season.
Judkins was a key part of a talented backfield that included quarterback Jaxson Dart, who helped lead the Rebels to an 11-2 record in 2023. Ole Miss capped the season with a 38-25 win over Penn State in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30.
Ole Miss could look to improve its halfback depth via the transfer portal. Matt Jones is among the candidates who could see more snaps in 2024.
