5-star QB Bryce Underwood commits to LSU
Bryce Underwood, the consensus top quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class, has committed to LSU.
Underwood gave his verbal pledge to the Tigers over several finalists, including Alabama, Colorado, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State, and Oregon.
Underwood, who hails from Belleville, Michigan, is ranked No. 1 overall on the ESPN Junior 300.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Underwood picked Saturday as his decision date since it coincides with the birthday celebration for his late great-grandmother, who died in 2019, he told 247 Sports' Steve Wiltfong.
After taking trips to several campuses last fall, Underwood highlighted the cuisine and the relatability of people in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, along with the history of the LSU football program, when speaking about the factors in his decision.
"Amazing coaching staff, amazing atmosphere. The program itself is very historical. A lot of great players went in and out of Louisiana State University," he said. "The food is amazing. It's a lot of real people out there. A lot of people from Michigan. A lot of things we can relate to."
Underwood led Belleville High School to three consecutive state title game appearances, including back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022. He passed for 3,165 yards, 40 touchdowns, and two interceptions with seven rushing scores in his junior season.
LSU head coach Brian Kelly gained his fourth ESPN Junior 300 commit following Underwood's announcement, with five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore, running back Harlem Berry, and linebacker Keylan Moses also in the fold.
The Tigers are set to add another talented passer to their roster nearly a month after Jayden Daniels won the Heisman Trophy. LSU also signed four-star Colin Hurley in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
