Washington quarterback Will Rogers is withdrawing from the transfer portal and will remain on the Huskies' roster for the 2024 season, he told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Rogers, who transferred from Mississippi State in December, informed head coach Jedd Fisch of his decision Tuesday, Thamel adds.

The 22-year-old left Mississippi State after passing for 12,315 yards, 94 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions with a 69.3 completion rate over four seasons. He's the SEC's No. 2 all-time leading passer.

Rogers had re-entered the portal after former Washington coach Kalen DeBoer left the program to take over the same role with Alabama earlier this month. Multiple schools reached out to the accomplished quarterback.

The signal-caller credited "some of the guys at Washington" as his motivation for withdrawing from the transfer portal. Rogers also cited Fisch's NFL experience as another factor for his return.

"I'm really excited to play under someone who has NFL experience and can teach you the dos and don'ts and get you ready for the next level," he said.

Rogers will join Demond Williams, who followed Fisch from Arizona after signing with the Wildcats as part of their 2024 recruiting class.

The two quarterbacks are expected to be the new faces of a revamped Washington program. Heisman Trophy finalist Michael Penix Jr. is moving on to the NFL after leading the Huskies to a Pac-12 title and CFP championship game appearance this past season. Backups Dylan Morris and Austin Mack both entered the transfer portal.

Despite losing several starters from last year's team, Rogers is embracing the challenge ahead.

"The team went 14-1 last year. If we can pick up where we left off, obviously it's going to be a tough task. But I think it's why you come to Washington," he said.
