Shedeur won't compete in Olympic flag football: 'You could get injured'
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders has no interest in joining the United States flag football team for the 2028 Olympics.
On Tuesday's episode of his "2Legendary" podcast, Sanders said he'd pass on the opportunity to compete at the Los Angeles Games due to a fear of injury.
"No. 'Cause, bro, you could get injured, bro," Sanders told brother Deion Sanders Jr. when asked if he'd like to be part of the flag football team.
Flag football will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Games, and several NFL players, including Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Caleb Williams, have expressed interest in competing in the sport. However, U.S. flag football quarterback Darrell "Housh" Doucette recently said that it's "disrespectful" for people to assume NFL players will be the ones representing the U.S.
Sanders is entering what's expected to be his final collegiate season and is viewed as a potential top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The 22-year-old completed 69.3% of his passes for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns, and three interceptions in 11 games with the Buffaloes last season.
