Utah quarterback Cam Rising is unlikely to play in Saturday's rivalry game against Utah State, sources told Action Network's Brett McMurphy.

The seventh-year QB sustained a finger injury on his throwing hand in the Utes' win against Baylor last weekend. Rising threw for 92 yards and two touchdowns before leaving the game.

Rising's right hand isn't broken, and he's expected to return to the lineup next week against Oklahoma State, McMurphy adds.

"As far as an update, again, reminder we don't give any injury updates unless they're season-ending, and so we won't say who's going to play quarterback, even when we know; it's just not how we do it," coach Kyle Whittingham said Monday, according to KSL.com's Josh Furlong.

Isaac Wilson replaced Rising under center and completed 4-of-9 passes for 30 yards in relief. The freshman could be in line to earn the first start of his career against the Utes' rival.

Utah's offense has struggled in the past with Rising on the sideline. The Utes finished second last in total offense (384.4 ypg) in the Pac-12 last season.
