Wisconsin's Van Dyke carted off with knee injury in loss vs. Alabama

Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke was carted off the field with an apparent knee injury in the first quarter of Saturday's loss against Alabama.

Van Dyke suffered the injury when he was tackled awkwardly while scrambling.

Van Dyke was taken to the locker room and couldn't put any weight on one of his legs, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.

Head coach Luke Fickell said after the game that Van Dyke will undergo an MRI on his leg, per Rittenberg.

"I don't think it looks real good for us, for him," Fickell added.

The 23-year-old completed all five pass attempts for 16 yards before leaving the game. Van Dyke was making his third start with the Badgers after transferring from Miami. He had 406 passing yards and one score in his first two games of the season.

Van Dyke returned to the sidelines on crutches in the second half.

Braedyn Locke, who transferred from Mississippi State to Wisconsin in 2023, replaced Van Dyke. The sophomore signal-caller finished the contest with 125 yards and one score while completing 50% of his throws.
