5-star DL Elijah Griffin commits to Georgia
Five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin has committed to Georgia, the recruit announced Friday.
Griffin is the No. 5-ranked prospect in the 2025 class and the top-ranked defensive lineman, according to ESPN 300. He chose Georgia over USC and Miami.
The six-foot-four, 285-pound defensive lineman officially visited Georgia on his 18th birthday to see the club's victory over Mississippi State. The Bulldogs made Griffin an offer in the eighth grade and prioritized getting him to Athens, according to Anna Adams of 247 Sports.
The Savannah Christian Prep School product has 36 tackles and six sacks so far this season. As a junior, Griffin totaled 31 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks.
"I remember looking at him in a sixth-grade class, and he was so big it was tough to tell if he was a teacher or a student," Savannah Christian head coach Baker Woodward said, according to Dennis Knight of the Savannah Morning News.
Woodward added: "Elijah has that size and athleticism that you just can't coach ... We had SEC coaches saying they didn't have a lineman on their team that looked like Elijah back when he was a sophomore."
Griffin becomes the first 2025 five-star recruit on ESPN's 300 to commit to Georgia.
