Gundy apologizes for criticizing fans amid Oklahoma State's 6-game skid
Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy apologized Tuesday after his comments in which he criticized fans who have called him out amid a 3-6 season.
Gundy came under fire after saying during a video conference with reporters Monday that those who have vocally disapproved of his job are "the same failure that they were before they said anything negative about anybody else," according to ESPN's Mark Schlabach. He added that his critics were mostly people who are "not taking care of themselves."
Oklahoma State is on pace to record just its second losing season under Gundy since his first campaign with the program in 2005. The Cowboys haven't won a Big 12 conference game with three regular-season matchups remaining.
Gundy, 57, has posted a 169-85 record at his alma mater over a 20-year span. His teams have won at least seven games in each of the past 18 seasons.
The Cowboys will need to win their remaining three games to clinch a berth in a bowl game. Oklahoma State will attempt to end its six-game losing streak Saturday on the road against TCU.
