North Carolina head coach Mack Brown is informing his coaching staff and players that he plans to return to his role next season, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.

Brown is in the midst of his 35th season as a college head coach and his sixth season with North Carolina. It's his second stint with the school. He's established a 282-148-1 overall record that includes stops at Tulane and Texas, the latter of whom he led to a national championship in 2005.

"There's going to be a day I wake up and say, 'somebody else needs to do be doing this,' and I haven't gotten to that yet," Brown said earlier this week on SiruiusXM College Sports Radio.

Brown highlights the players as a big reason why he's still coaching.

"I'm going to work as hard as I can every day of my life to do what I'm supposed to do. And right now, my role is to help these young people," Brown said.

Brown will lead the Tar Heels into action against Boston College on Saturday.
