Ohio State national championship favorite after knocking out Oregon
Ohio State is the new betting favorite to win the College Football Playoff after dismantling top-seeded Oregon in the Rose Bowl.
The Buckeyes are now +110 (47.6% implied probability) at theScore Bet/ESPN Bet to win the national championship. They entered the playoffs as the fourth favorite at +475, but two convincing wins over Tennessee and Oregon have changed the betting market's mind about Ohio State's chances.
Ryan Day's squad will face Texas in the Cotton Bowl - one of two CFP semis. Ohio State opened as a 6-point favorite over the Longhorns for the Jan. 10 game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, a game that'll likely draw a pro-Longhorns crowd.
Before the playoffs began, Texas was +350 co-favorites with Oregon and Georgia. The Longhorns' odds have lengthened to +375 after they narrowly squeaked by Arizona State in overtime to win the Peach Bowl and set up a date with Ohio State.
On the other side of the bracket, Notre Dame is the second favorite to win it all at +325 and is laying 1.5 points to Penn State in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 9. The Fighting Irish beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl to advance to the other semi.
Penn State has the longest odds to win the national championship at +450.
