South Carolina extends Beamer through 2030
South Carolina approved a contract extension for head coach Shane Beamer that will run through the 2030 season, the school announced Friday.
Beamer's annual salary will increase to $8.15 million, and he'll earn an additional $100,000 on Jan. 1 of every year, according to The Greenville News' Lulu Kesin. His buyout would be $5 million before Dec. 31, 2025, and it'll decrease by $1 million in each subsequent year.
"The culture and commitment to excellence that Coach Beamer has built in our football program shows that we are headed in the right direction and on a strong upward trajectory," athletic director Jeremiah Donati said in a statement. "Coach Beamer has made clear his desire to be at the University of South Carolina and this extension shows our collective support for him as the leader of our football program."
The Gamecocks coach's extension comes after he posted the best single-season record of his first four campaigns with the program. South Carolina finished with a 9-4 record and a 5-3 mark in SEC play after missing out on a bowl game following a 5-7 finish in 2023.
"As I've said before, this is my dream job," Beamer said. "My family and I love being here. We've accomplished a lot on and off the field over the past four years, but we're not satisfied. There's more to do and we're just getting started."
The 47-year-old Beamer has gradually established South Carolina as a contender in a difficult SEC conference. The Gamecock boast a 29-22 record during his tenure and have qualified for bowl games in three of the past four years.
South Carolina will aim to take another step next season with a nucleus that includes quarterback LaNorris Sellers and pass-rusher Dylan Stewart.
