Leavitt transfers to LSU from Arizona State
Former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt has transferred to LSU, he announced on Instagram.
Leavitt has two years of eligibility remaining and was considered one of the top players in the portal. He spent the last two seasons as the Sun Devils' primary starter after transferring from Michigan State.
The 21-year-old's 2025 campaign was cut short by an ankle injury, and he ultimately suited up in just seven games. Leavitt led Arizona State to the College Football Playoff in 2024 and has accumulated 4,652 career passing yards and 36 touchdowns during his career.
He represents new LSU head coach Lane Kiffin's first big win on the recruiting trail. Leavitt visited several schools before settling on the Tigers, including stops at Tennessee, Kentucky, and Miami after entering the portal Dec. 9.
LSU is coming off a disappointing 7-6 season, including a 3-5 conference record. The Tigers ranked last in yards per game among SEC schools while averaging 22.8 points.
