ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. doubles down on Johnny Manziel, calls him consensus top QB

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper continued to make waves in the draft community Thursday, asserting that Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is the "consensus best quarterback in the draft."

Kiper is alone on an island here, as most other draft analysts have Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater and UCF's Blake Bortles battling to be the top quarterback selected.

Manziel is easy to fall in love with because he's such an exciting player, but there are legitimate concerns about his off-the-field character, as well as whether his slight frame can hold up to the pounding he's likely to take as the result of his freewheeling style of play.

Even if Manziel is viewed as the best quarterback available by a plurality of teams, it's silly to suggest there's ever anything resembling a "consensus" when it comes to the draft.
