PHOTOS: Texas Tech, LSU join the helmet camera revolution

College football fans across North America could be in line to get a closer look at the action in the years ahead.
Schutt Sports and Sports Video Innovations has developed a football helmet with a tiny camera installed just above the face mask, which will offer football fans a different look at the game they love.
Clemson was first to announce that they are on board, and now Texas Tech and LSU have climbed aboard as well.

For now, the cameras won't see any game action in the college ranks - NCAA rules prohibit the use of film for coaching purposes during games, so cameras are banned at field level.
However, Schutt Vision will be implemented in the Arena Football League for the 2014 season, and if that is a success, it would be hard for the NCAA not to alter its rules, even if the cameras are used only for broadcast purposes.
At the very least, the helmet cameras can be used in practices. Florida Atlantic quarterback Melvin German III wore a helmet camera in a spring game in 2013, offering us a preview of what we have to look forward to.
