Quarterback Jalen Whitlow to transfer from Kentucky
Not long after Matt Joeckel's transfer from Texas A&M was announced, another SEC quarterback and likely starter in 2014 decided to jump ship.
Kentucky announced that Jalen Whitlow will transfer from the program after starting 15 games the past two season, and seemingly entering spring practice as the team's starter.
However, head coach Mark Stoops confirmed Wednesday that Whitlow was asked to change positions and play wide receiver, something that didn't sit well with the junior.
“We respect Jalen and his decision as we want the best for him,” Stoops said in a statement, via CollegeFootballTalk. “I thank Jalen for his contributions to the team. I want everyone to understand how hard he has worked and the effort he has given since our staff has been here.”
“I appreciate the University of Kentucky and what the coaching staff and administration have done for me,” Whitlow said in his statement. “I also thank the community and the fan support I have received here. I wish the coaches and my teammates the best of luck.”
Whitlow has two years of college eligibility remaining.
