The longest touchdown passes of the 2013 college football season
Picking up where we left off with last week's look at the longest touchdown runs of the 2013 season, we shift our focus to quarterbacks and the people who catch their passes.
More than a dozen passing plays went for at least 90 yards last season. With all due respect to Central Michigan's Cooper Rush and Sam B. Richardson at Iowa State, finding video of their 97-yard touchdown passes has proved difficult. Jameis Winston also receives an honorable mention for his 94-yard pass to Nick O'Leary, who came up short of the end zone in Florida State's October dismantling of Clemson.
Here are seven of the longest touchdown passes from the 2013 college football season.
Bryce Petty's 93 yard pass versus Kansas State
Baylor toppled Kansas State by a final score of 35-25 in their October meeting, which saw Bryce Petty throw for 323 yards and three touchdowns. Petty and Tevin Reese hooked up in the second quarter and exposed their fellow Big 12 secondary on this 93-yard touchdown pass.
Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans combine for a 95-yard touchdown pass
Just one of several big plays between Texas A&M stars Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans in a September showdown with Alabama. The Crimson Tide narrowly prevented the Aggies from pulling off the upset for the second straight year. The comeback was on when these two hooked up for this 95-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Tajh Boyd + Sammy Watkins = 96 yard touchdown
Departed Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd lobs one nearly 50-yards and Sammy Watkins does the rest.
L'Damian Washington turns a Maty Mauk pass into a 96-yard score
There is life after James Franklin at Missouri, and it starts with Maty Mauk. Mauk impressed in limited duty last season, with a little help from the Tigers offensive weapons. Here L'Damian Washington breaks free for a 96-yard touchdown.
Aaron Murray's 98-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Davis
Aaron Murray was a pleasure to watch at Georgia, even if the Bulldogs came up short on an annual basis during his tenure as the starting quarterback. Although Murray's gone now, wide receiver/kick returner Reggie Davis is just getting started. Here's a look at his first career touchdown, a 98-yard connection with Murray.
AJ McCarron connects with Amari Cooper for a 99-yard touchdown
This should have been enough to knock off Auburn in the 2013 Iron Bowl. It's funny how poor the video quality is here, it's almost like something must have happened later in the game that overshadowed this great play.
Quincy Enunwa takes a Tommy Armstrong Jr. pass 99-yards
Tommy Armstrong Jr. lobs this one into a wide open space and Quincy Enunwa turns it into a real pretty score.
