Texas A&M to hold 'Midnight Yell' practice at South Carolina State House
Welcome to the rivalry, South Carolina.
The Gamecocks will open their new and permanent SEC cross-division rivalry with Texas A&M on Aug. 28, and to give them a taste of what's in store, Aggies fans are planning on holding their "Midnight Yell" practice on the steps of the South Carolina State House.
You may be asking: What is Midnight Yell practice? Consider it the official practice of the Aggies' 12th man. Fans stay up past midnight and fill Kyle Stadium in College Station to cheer their lungs out in preparation for a day full of shouting.

According to A&M tradition, the Midnight Yell practice began in 1931. It is usually held the Friday night before Saturday home games, and at special locations on the road.
The official itinerary has Aggies fans scheduled to meet at the steps of the South Carolina State House on Aug. 27, a historic building that is home to the South Carolina General Assembly and the offices of the Governor.
The two teams have no previous experience playing each other, but now that they are scheduled as yearly rivals it would serve Gamecocks fans well to get used to the noise.
