50 NCAA schools to release new Star Wars-themed apparel

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The NCAA and Star Wars have reached a deal to create a new apparel line for 50 participating schools.

Starwars.com announced today the new line of T-shirts, caps, throws, outerwear, lunchboxes and coolers inspired by the iconic sci-fi series.

It's everything fans need for an "intergalactic sports showdown," according to the website.

One shirt shows a picture of Darth Vader over a USC-logo, perfect for any UCLA fan. Another long sleeve shows Yoda, with the inscription "Aggie of Texas A&M, I am."

Perhaps Georgia receiver Chris Conley may be the first to get his hands on some of the new swag. In December of last season, the then-junior standout organized a "lightsaber duel" on campus for fans, which was followed by an actual movie that he directed a few months later.

Conley spent much of his offseason on the Twitter-fueled project "Retribution," wrote Fox Sports, a 25-minute film that features "fellow Georgia football players and students, head coach Mark Richt, stormtroopers and lightsaber duels across the Athens, Ga., campus -- including the team's iconic Sanford Stadium."
