Baylor's Shawn Oakman to be drafted in first round: NFL scout

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

An NFL scout thinks that Baylor's junior defensive end Shawn Oakman will be selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.

The 6-foot-9, 280-pound Oakman has four tackles for a loss, three sacks and a forced fumble in three games this season for the undefeated Bears.

"He's big and strong and relentless," the NFC scout told NFL Media's Albert Breer. "He's got a great motor, too. He'll be first round for someone."

Iowa State's Cory Morrissey and Texas' Malcom Brown are the only two Big 12 players averaging more sacks per game than Oakman.

Oakman started his career off at Penn State, but later transferred to Baylor. He recorded 37 total tackles and two sacks last year, but strengthened his stock in spring practice, emerging as a top talent.

According to the news outlet, his size "will certainly be a point of attraction for NFL clubs."
