Notre Dame's Austin Collinsworth out 4-6 weeks with shoulder injury
Notre Dame safety Austin Collinsworth could be out up to six weeks with a slight labrum tear in his left shoulder.
According to ESPN's Matt Fortuna, coach Brian Kelly said the redshirt senior doesn't need surgery, but will likely be out for a month at the minimum.
"At first glimpse, that's a good thing," said Kelly.
Collinsworth, the son of NFL broadcaster Cris Collinsworth, is one of four captains on the Fighting Irish squad. He already missed the first four games of the season after spraining his MCL two days before Notre Dame's opener against Rice.
It's unclear whether the injury will affect Collinsworth's football career. He missed the entire 2012 season after tearing a labrum in the same shoulder. Later that season, he went under the knife for a back surgery.
Still, the fact that he won't require surgery this time around should come as good news.
