Ole Miss game will fund Presbyterian stadium lights

Don McPeak / US PRESSWIRE

And Ole Miss said, let there be light.

When the Rebels play host to Presbyterian on Saturday, they'll be one of the more generous opponents as the school is paying $400,000 so that the Blue Hose can finally install lights at Bailey Memorial Stadium, The Clarion-Ledger's Hugh Kellenberger reports.

Nestled in Clinton, S.C., Presbyterian plays their games at a stadium that seats a mere 6,500, and up to this season, they always had a noon kickoff.

Such is life at the smallest school in Division 1 that has no lights at their football stadium.

When the Blue Hose travel to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, they'll be engulfed in the roar of a palatial 60,580-seat edifice.

It's no secret the Rebels aren't playing their FCS opponent as a tune-up for Mississippi State.

Presbyterian has already played two other FBS schools in 2014 - North Carolina State and Northern Illinois. They lost those games 42-0 and 55-3, respectively.

The going rate for BCS contests is around $400,000, though the price differs by school. Ole Miss cashed out when it trounced UL-Lafayette 56-15 on Sept. 13.

That game cost the Rebels $925,000.
