Illinois' Ted Karras out for season with knee injury
Illinois right guard Ted Karras won't play again this season after tearing his ACL and MCL in the Fighting Illini's last game, a 55-14 loss to Ohio State.
Illinois coach Tim Beckman said Karras will miss the rest of the season and likely all of spring practice, reports the News-Gazette's Matt Daniels.
The junior Karras redshirted the 2011 season and played in nine games this season, meaning he won't be able to apply for a medical hardship waiver.
"He had (those injuries), and he still ran off the field (at Ohio Stadium),” said Beckman. “If there’s anybody that’s going to get back quickly, it’ll be Teddy. He’s a great leader for this team, but these things happen in the game of football."
Illinois doesn't play until Nov. 15, when Iowa comes to town.
