Florida State's Jameis Winston denies being source of autographs

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has told school officials that he was not the one that signed the numerous items under investigation that bear his signature.

Winston met with school compliance officials last month to look at the memorabilia being sold online which was a the center of an ESPN "Outside the Lines" report, according to Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Press.

The quarterback was reportedly able to identify a number of forged items, including jerseys, photos and helmets, among other items he claimed he knew he didn't sign, although they had his signature.

Winston stated that he tries to avoid providing multiple autographs to the same person, and is cautious to stay away from those he thinks are dealers.

"Outside the Lines" reported on Tuesday that a pair of autograph experts were unable to verify the legitimacy of items bearing Winston's supposed signature.

The quarterback hasn't been punished regarding any autograph matters and the school has stated that it had no proof that he received money for any autographs he may have signed.

In his time playing football and baseball for the Seminoles, Winston has found himself at times signing thousands of autographs at certain fan events or ceremonies, and hundreds more after games.
