Recruiting Central: Buckeyes land Burrell; recruit compares Saban to God

Recruiting Central is a weekly high school football summary tracking who needs to be watched and the buzz surrounding future stars before they hit the NCAA gridiron.

Penn State loses out on Burrell, who heads to Ohio State

It seems like every week, Ohio State is burning its way through its recruiting board.

This time around, the Buckeyes landed themselves one of the more prized possessions in the 2015 recruiting class in 4-star offensive guard Matthew Burrell Jr.

Despite the school all but completing its recruiting class - picking up 21 commits so far - head coach Urban Meyer is looking to finish strong, and this is a big step in the right direction.

Burrell officially visited OSU during the Buckeyes' loss to Virginia Tech in September alongside highly-touted prospect Josh Sweat.

One school's win is another's loss, though. Penn State, who ranked Burrell high on their recruiting board, hasn't had much luck with recruits this year.

All in all, it's yet another win for recruiting guru Meyer, who continues to make the case that next year's squad will be even better than this year's.

Matthew Burrell Jr. is a very big boy.

It's no wonder Burrell had schools eating out of his hand. Ranked 72nd on ESPN's Top 300, the 6-foot-5, 302-pound offensive guard out of C.D. Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Va., towers over the opposition.

Not only that, he also has got a unique skill set of smarts, physical toughness and versatility - which is what made him such a coveted U.S. Army All-American prospect.

Simply put, the biggest asset Burrell will add to Ohio State is that he can play almost any position on the offensive line. He's also arguably one of the stronger players in his class. To get a glimpse of that, check out his recruiting video:

Burrell is joining fellow Top 100 players Justin Hilliard, Torrance Gibson, Jerome Baker, Jashon Cornell and Eric Glover-Williams at Ohio State.

Need to Know: Recruit says meeting Nick Saban 'was almost like talking to God'

Call it divine intervention if you will, but this recruit will never forget the day he met Alabama coach Nick Saban.

"It was almost like talking to God," P.J. Blue said.

Blue, a 4-star recruit out of Jemison, Ala., said as a child he never fathomed being able to meet someone like Saban, AL.com's John Talty reports.

The two seem to be feeling each other out, though, as Blue has been on campus to see wins over Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Florida.

Meanwhile, Bama has told him he needs to pack on some weight before they can offer the linebacker a scholarship.

"Alabama has great facilities and it makes you want to go there instantly," he said. "But there's more to it than just facilities and I'm going to have to look at it more."

Either way, if the kid is this happy just meeting Saban, there's no telling what he'll be like playing for him.
