SEC commissioner Mike Slive told the media Wednesday at the conference's annual spring meetings that the league's athletic directors have voted to drop its restriction on satellite camps, beginning in the summer of 2016.

Slive noted that the conference will continue its efforts to have its rules banning satellite camps adopted nationally until that time.

If the rule is not changed by the NCAA, Slive said "our people can fan out and have at it."

In speaking with the media Tuesday, incoming commissioner Greg Sankey said if the national satellite camp ban were to not pass, the SEC would likely adjust to "the competitive landscape."

However, Sankey did express optimism the legislation would pass.

"If you really take a look at the scope of football recruiting," Sankey said. "I think it has a fair chance of passing."
