Report: Ohio State's Braxton Miller cleared for full activity
After missing the entire 2014 season with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller has reportedly been cleared to practice without limitations, according to 247Sports' Alex Gleitman.
However, several members of the Buckeyes coaching staff told Doug Lesmerises of the NortheastOhio Media Group that they were unaware of any change in Miller's status.
An Ohio State spokesman later released a statement in regards to the report.
"Braxton Miller continues to work through the progressions of his rehabilitation and he continues to prepare for the start of the season," the statement read.
The veteran quarterback first sustained the shoulder injury in the 2014 Orange Bowl loss to Clemson, and then reinjured his shoulder in fall camp.
Miller's presence in preseason practice makes head football coach Urban Meyer's starting quarterback decision even harder, as J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones both filled in admirably in his absence.
Both Barrett and Jones proved themselves worthy of earning the starting job with their performance last season. Barrett led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record before his season came to an abrupt halt due to a fractured ankle in the reason-season finale game. Then Jones, who still sees himself as a third-stringer, showed himself to be the real deal, guiding Ohio State to earn a Big Ten Championship, and ultimately the College Football Playoff national title.
Although there were whispers Miller may seek a transfer to avoid the competition, Meyer has remained confident Miller will play for the Buckeyes this fall.
And as for Miller, he has obviously spent his time preparing well.
