Maryland's Randy Edsall signs 3-year extension
Maryland head football coach Randy Edsall has signed a three-year contract extension, the university announced Tuesday.
"Randy has made good strides in our first year in the Big Ten and our program is headed in the right direction," director of athletics Kevin Anderson said in a statement. "He has established a culture in which our students have made strong progress academically with outstanding graduation rates. We have made progress and we will look to continue to build upon what we have established with our goal of competing at the highest level in the Big Ten."
Edsall guided the Terrapins to a 7-6 record this past season, giving the program back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2002-03.
"I'm extremely proud of the work my players and staff have put in to making our program what it is today," Edsall said in a statement. "It is rewarding for me that Kevin Anderson and Dr. Wallace Loh have recognized this process in getting the program headed in the right direction."
Edsall took over the Maryland football program in January 2011. Since then, the Terrapins have gone 20-30.
