Northern Illinois' Monaghan suspended indefinitely after DUI charge
Northern Illinois announced on Friday that it has suspended wide receiver Skyler Monaghan indefinitely after he was stopped by police driving while intoxicated, according to the Daily Chronicle's Katie Smith.
The 19-year-old is facing charges for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding, and possession of a fraudulent driver's license after police say he was spotted driving 93 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Court records show that Monaghan failed a field sobriety test after admitting to police that he was drinking earlier, and his breathalyzer showed he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.095.
A fake Illinois ID was found in Monaghan's pocket by police during a search, which the 19-year-old said he used to purchase alcohol in the past.
Monaghan is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26.
