Swag Watch: Top 10 uniforms from last season
Two things are certain during the college football season: upsets and uniform changes.
But these uniforms, much like the teams who rock them every week, are not all created equal.
Here are some of the best looks from last season.
Ohio State & Oregon - National Title Swag
The uniforms worn during the first inaugural College Football Playoff Championship Game definitely deserve a shout out.
Ohio State was rocking the signature scarlet and grey with striped accents on the sleeves when it crushed a white-and-grey clad Oregon 42-20 for the national title.
And Nike's special effects had us all believing that every uniform should have wings and a cape.
Oregon - Pink & Black
Oregon donned pink and black jerseys with silver feather accents against Arizona to raise awareness for women's cancers.
The Ducks lost the early fall game, but their on-field swag remained untouchable.
Texas A&M - 1939 National Champions
1939 was a good year for Texas A&M, with the Aggies finishing an 11-0 run by beating Tulane in the Sugar Bowl.
It was also a good year for uniforms. Last season, Texas A&M rocked a 1939 vintage-style uniform against Louisiana-Monroe with leather-looking helmets that had the simulated stitching, rips, and tears, as well as the ear protection on old helmets.
Texas Tech - "Lone Star Pride"
Texas Tech reminded spectators they were from the state of Texas by sporting flag-themed uniforms to face the Texas Longhorns in what may go down in history as the most Texas football game ever.
Maryland - "Star Spangled"
Maryland celebrated the 200th anniversary of the "Battle of Baltimore" with special patriotic uniforms against West Virginia.
It is the little details that make this Terrapins uniform especially cool, with "Defence of Fort McHenry" (which later became the Star-Spangled Banner) inscribed on the jersey's sleeves, helmet, and shoes.
The back of the jerseys complete the look with the word "Triumph."
Texas A&M - "Icy White"
The Aggies know how to do a white-out right with their icy white uniforms they wore when they defeated Alabama in 2012.
Too bad the magic wore off and Texas A&M was shutout by the Crimson Tide 59-0 when sporting the icy white look this past season.
Navy - "Don't Tread on Me"
Navy went with an American classic for its annual rivalry game against Army by wearing uniforms inspired by the "Don't Tread on Me" flag.
The Midshipmen's helmet featured the rattlesnake, with the phrase embroidered on the jersey hem, side of the pants, and baselayer sleeve.
Mississippi State - The Golden Egg
Mississippi State was not about to march into its in-state rivalry game - the Egg Bowl - against Ole Miss without looking good.
The Bulldogs were wearing white uniforms with gold accents on the helmet, jersey number, gloves, and cleats when they were pummeled by the Rebels 31-17.
Clanga.
Baylor - Chrome & Black
Baylor went bold for their game against Kansas State with all-black gear topped off with a chrome helmet accented by black lettering.
These beautiful helmets looked even better hoisting the Big 12 Champion trophy after defeating the Wildcats 38-27.
Missouri - Tiger stripes
The old adage that a "tiger never changes its stripes" does not apply to Missouri, who debuted multiple combinations of looks last season.
One particular look stood out - grey jerseys with black accents and gold tiger stripes decorating the numbers. The Tigers paired this new jersey with a matte black helmet and Vanderbilt did not see them coming, earning Missouri a 24-14 victory.
