Virginia wide receiver T.J. Thorpe is expected to be sidelined for the next 10 weeks after breaking his right collarbone during a team scrimmage on Wednesday, the team announced.
Thorpe underwent surgery on Thursday, the school said, though it did not divulge the manner in which he was injured.
An incoming graduate transfer, Thorpe played in 34 career games for North Carolina before leaving for Virginia earlier this offseason.
He had 42 receptions for 574 yards and five touchdowns in three seasons with the Tar Heels.
Thorpe missed the entire 2012 season after breaking his foot during preseason training camp.
