Baylor to conduct internal investigation following sexual assault conviction

Baylor is taking swift action in the wake of a former defensive end's conviction for sexual assault of a former student.

The university announced Friday that they will conduct an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the sexual assault case against Sam Ukwuachu, and "the conduct of the offices involved."

According to the statement, the investigation will be led by former assistant criminal district attorney Jeremy Counsellor, who is a professor of law and a Big 12 conference athletics representative.

Counsellor will submit a report at the end of the investigation to the university president, who will then determine if any action is needed.

The former student-athlete Ukwuachu was found guilty of sexual assault on Thursday and sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years of felony probation in court on Friday.
