JUCO standout, former Boise State defensive end Mat Boesen commits to TCU
TCU is taking a chance on an emerging junior college recruit who flamed out after a brief and troubling stint at Boise State.
Defensive end Mat Boeson announced Thursday that he has committed verbally to the Horned Frogs.
"Everything at TCU just clicked and overall it was the best fit for me," he wrote in a statement posted on Twitter.
Boesen committed to Boise State out of high school in 2013, playing eight games for the Broncos the following season.
He was suspended by the program in November 2014 after pleading guilty to a charge of inattentive or careless driving stemming from an arrest months earlier.
The Broncos dismissed Boesen the next month for an unspecified violation of team rules.
He recorded 12 tackles and three sacks during his tenure with the team.
Boesen then joined Long Beach City College, and has attracted attention as a promising prospect.
