Ford Tough Performers of the Week: Fuller, Cook dominate the score sheet
Notre Dame's Will Fuller
With the Fighting Irish moments away from a stunning defeat to Virginia, Will Fuller salvaged the game for No. 9 Notre Dame. Backup quarterback DeShone Kizer found Fuller for a game-winning 39-yard touchdown pass that kept the Irish's playoff hopes alive. It was an emphatic highlight to a stellar game for Fuller, who overall made five catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
Bowling Green's Matt Johnson
One of the week's most dominating performances belongs to an unheralded signal-caller for a darkhorse program. Matt Johnson, though, certainly deserves the accolade, throwing for an outrageous 491 yards and six touchdowns against Maryland. The icing on the cake? His stellar play led Bowling Green to a huge 48-27 defeat of the Terrapins.
Michigan State's LJ Scott
LJ Scott's offensive numbers may appear relatively muted, but remember his Spartans squad was facing No. 7 Oregon on Saturday - hardly a cupcake game. Scott led Michigan State offensively, running for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Most importantly, he ran in a back-breaking 38-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that cemented the Spartans victory.
Florida State's Dalvin Cook
After a turbulent offseason where his future with the Seminoles was in serious jeopardy, Florida State's Dalvin Cook is back to his old ways on the gridiron. The talented rusher tore up the field against South Florida on Saturday, running for 266 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries. It was good enough for the second-best rushing game in the esteemed school's history and first 200-yard outing by a Florida State running back since 1988. Cook completed the great game with a 34-yard touchdown run that showcased his whirlwind speed.
Ole Miss' Chad Kelly
Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly completely dissected Fresno State's beleaguered defense, leading the Rebels to a blowout 73-21 home victory. Kelly went 20-for-25 for 346 yards and four touchdowns. His 50-yard touchdown toss to Quincy Adeboyejo in the dying stages of the first quarter iced an already out-of-hand contest.
