Doctson's record-setting game helps No. 3 TCU outlast Texas Tech

TCU needed every one of Josh Doctson's 18 catches on Saturday.

Doctson set a new single-game school record for receiving yards on Saturday against Texas Tech, posting an impressive 267 yards with three touchdowns to help the Horned Frogs to a 55-52 win over Texas Tech.

Doctson broke Jimmy Young's previous record of 226 in 2008.

While he fell short of the FBS record for catches in a game (23), Doctson's effort helped keep TCU undefeated, although he won't get the glory. That goes to running back Aaron Green, who caught the game-winning touchdown on a fourth-down play after the ball bounced off Doctson's hands in the end zone.

Heisman hopeful Trevone Boykin was not to be outdone. The signal caller threw for 485 yards with four touchdowns, and even hauled in a critical two-point conversion on a gadget play in the fourth quarter.

Giving up 52 points won't make head coach Gary Patterson very happy, but he will certainly be pleased with his team rallying to beat a conference opponent in a tough environment.
