UCLA one-hit-wonder Jerry Neuheisel not returning to team in 2016
UCLA quarterback Jerry Neuheisel and linebacker Kene Orjioke will not return to the Bruins next season.
Head coach Jim Mora confirmed the news of duo of the redshirt juniors, saying that Neuheisel will return as a grad assistant.
Neuheisel has spent his three seasons as a backup, first behind Brett Hundley, and this season behind Josh Rosen. But the one opportunity he did get to shine, he stole the moment entirely.
After Hundley left a game last season with an elbow injury, Neuheisel stepped in and completed 23 of 30 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Texas.
He found Jordan Payton on a 33-yard touchdown pass with three minutes left to give the Bruins the lead.
Orjioke's promise never really came to fruition, and he was bothered by a severe knee injury in the fourth game last season. He has 17 tackles in nine games this season.
