TCU's Gary Patterson wants to expand College Football Playoff
TCU head coach Gary Patterson wants to see some changes to the College Football Playoff.
In his press conference Tuesday, Patterson voiced his displeasure with the current four-team format, and offered a suggestion on what he believes would improve the situation.
"I'm not going to be a person who's going to be an advocate of the four after this season," Patterson said. "I think you need to take the winner of all five (power conferences) and then you have an at-large or you have three more and have either a six- or an (eight-team playoff). I think we need to take people's opinions out of this and what you do during the season is what gives you the opportunity to play yourself into it. Then I think it's a lot easier. Then I think everybody would be a lot happier."
In 2014, the inaugural CFP season, Patterson's Horned Frogs were left out of the playoff picture after an 11-1 season, which caused a great deal of controversy in Fort Worth, as the eventual champions Ohio State took the final spot.
This season, TCU has been ravaged by injuries, and with two losses, the Frogs won't make it to the big dance for the second consecutive year.
