Auburn safety Tray Matthews is "hopeful" that he'll be ready for spring practice after he recently underwent a shoulder procedure, a team spokesperson told Tom Green of the Opelika-Auburn News.
Matthews was seen with his right arm in a sling Saturday as he took in the Auburn men's basketball game against Oklahoma State.
Matthews started seven games as a redshirt sophomore in 2015, and appeared in three others. He also missed three games because of ankle and shoulder injuries. He finished the season with 46 tackles and two interceptions in his first playing year since transferring from Georgia.
The Tigers are scheduled to commence spring practice in March.
