Report: Florida QB Treon Harris making position change
Florida is expected to move away from having quarterback Treon Harris under center, opting to move him to wide receiver, according to multiple reports.
Harris came into the season in a battle for the starting job with Will Grier. Grier won the job, but was slapped with a one-year suspension for violating the NCAA's substance abuse policy.
Harris took over the starting job, but struggled mightily. Although the Gators started 6-0 with Grier, they finished 10-4 with Harris under center.
He threw for 1,676 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions, while rushing for 238 yards.
It's unclear who will emerge as Florida's starter, though it's expected to be between redshirt junior Luke Del Rio, Purdue transfer Austin Appleby, and two true freshmen, Feleipe Franks and Kyle Trask.
Last season, Appleby threw for 1,260 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight picks for the Boilermakers.
