UTEP's Aaron Jones arrested on suspicion of DWI
UTEP running back Aaron Jones was arrested in February on suspicion of DWI, according to the El Paso Times.
Head coach Sean Kugler issued a statement, saying that the team is aware of the incident but is waiting for further detail before moving forward.
"We are waiting for the process to fully develop and once I have all the facts, I will evaluate the situation," Kugler said. "There are consequences to poor decisions and Aaron will be held to the same standard as every other student-athlete in our program."
From the report:
At 1:09 a.m. Feb. 10, a deputy saw a gold Acura in front of his patrol car swerving out of its lane in the 2900 block of North Mesa Street near the Don Haskins Center, according to an El Paso County Sheriff's Office complaint affidavit.
After police turned on their sirens, Jones was pulled over at a gas station. He's scheduled to have an arraignment-pretrial hearing March 29 in County Court.
Last season, Jones rushed for 209 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries.
