Coyotes general manager John Chayka confirmed Keller will join the team immediately and play the rest of the season in the NHL.
Keller's one and only season with Boston University ended Saturday when the Terriers were eliminated from the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament by Minnesota-Duluth in overtime.
He led BU with 21 goals and 45 points in 31 games.
Keller was selected seventh overall by the Coyotes in last year's draft.
Assuming he appears in both of Arizona's next two games, he'll face his hometown St. Louis Blues in back-to-back contests.
