Friday's Catcher Value Rankings

Troy Taormina / USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Friday, April 8:

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Yan Gomes (CLE) at CWS 9
Nick Hundley (COL) vs. SD 9
Devin Mesoraco (CIN) vs. PIT 8

Gomes has hit .500 off of John Danks in his career. Four of his six hits off Danks have gone for extra bases. The Brazillian is looking to regain his 2015 form where he hit 21 home runs. Draft him in any lineup.

Hundley hit .355 at Coors Field last season. He has fared much better against RHP throughout his career, so expect a good day at the plate against the unproven Colin Rea.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Russell Martin (TOR) vs. BOS 7
Chris Iannetta (SEA) vs. OAK 7
Blake Swihart (BOS) at TOR 6
Salvador Perez (KC) vs. MIN 6
Stephen Vogt (OAK) at SEA 6
Matt Wieters (BAL) vs. TB 6
Travis d'Arnaud (NYM) vs. PHI 5
Brian McCann (NYY) at DET 5
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) vs. HOU 5
Hank Conger (TB) at BAL 5
Jason Castro (HOU) at MIL 5
Welington Castillo (ARI) vs. CHC 5
Dioner Navarro (CWS) vs. CLE 5
Jarrod Saltalamacchia (DET) vs. NYY 5

Iannetta posted an .835 OPS vs. LHP from 2013-2015 and A's starter Eric Surkamp has a career 6.47 ERA. Iannetta is one of the lowest priced catchers on the slate.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Yadier Molina (STL) at ATL 4
Francisco Cervelli (PIT) at CIN 4
Robinson Chirinos (TEX) at LAA 3
Derek Norris (SD) at COL 3
Carlos Ruiz (PHI) at NYM 2
Miguel Montero (CHC) at ARI 2

Ruiz struggles mightily against left-handed pitching.

Norris will have extremely high ownership playing at Coors Field. However, the location of the game significantly boosted his price, despite being a career .220 hitter against RHP. He's simply not worth the investment given the other safer options.
