Watch: Josh Saunders' awful 1st touch leads to Whitecaps goal in 37 seconds
Reuters
It took all of 37 seconds for Vancouver Whitecaps forward Octavio Rivero to find the back of the net against New York City FC, and those 37 seconds will play back in goalkeeper Josh Saunders' memory time and time again.
Saunders failed to clear a ball played back to him by Jason Hernandez, and could only watch as Nicolas Mezquida charged at him, robbing him of possession.
He was then left helpless as Rivero pounced on the loose ball, tapping home the goal with ease, the second-fastest goal in Whitecaps history.
At 0:37, Octavio Rivero's goal is the 2nd fastest goal in #VWFC MLS history. 1st is 0:33, Eric Hassli vs. Chicago Fire August 7, 2011.
