1995 Tyson fight footage shows 'time traveler' using smartphone

Time travel might be possible after all.

Conspiracy theorists are freaking out over footage that appears to show a spectator filming a 1995 Mike Tyson fight with a smartphone, five years before the first camera phone was released.

The video, which was first published on YouTube in September 2015 but has since resurfaced, contains footage of the Aug. 19, 1995 fight between Tyson and Peter McNeeley at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"What we have here is a time traveler coming back to watch their favorite fighter and sitting in the front row seats," Scott Waring of UFO Sightings Daily wrote on his blog. "Back in 1995 they did have phones, but they didn't yet have cameras on them. Why wouldn't a time traveler want to see Mike Tyson fight?"

Snopes may have debunked the conspiracy theory, though, pointing out the resemblance between the device in the video and a number of handheld cameras that were available around that time.
