Monday's Shortstop Value Rankings
Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Monday, May 16 (all stats exclude Sunday's games):
Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP
Top Options
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Xander Bogaerts (BOS) | at KC | 9 |
| Corey Seager (LAD) | vs. LAA | 8 |
Although both Bogaerts and Seager have matchups in pitcher-friendly parks, their value doesn't lie within the long bomb anyways. Bogaerts is scorching hot, with six straight multi-hit games while also scoring eight runs. Both are smart cash-game plays.
Seeger isn't as hot as Bogaerts but has hits in five straight, two of which were homers. Adding to his already intriguing value, Seager has four two-baggers over the last 10 outings. With the woeful Matt Shoemaker toeing the rubber, another multi-hit game can't be ruled out.

Mid-Tier Targets
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Eduardo Nunez (MIN) | at DET | 7 |
| Didi Gregorius (NY) | at ARI | 7 |
| Jung Ho Kang (PIT) | vs. ATL | 7 |
| Marcus Semien (OAK) | vs. TEX | 6 |
| Elvis Andrus (TEX) | at OAK | 6 |
| Troy Tulowitzki (TOR) | vs. TB | 5 |
| Jose Iglesias (DET) | vs. MIN | 5 |
| Alcides Escobar (KC) | vs. BOS | 5 |
Although the Twins' offense has been abysmal to say the least, Nunez has been phenomenal, hitting .340 and consistently getting on base. His May line is .323/.364/.645. He's a solid cash game play.
Semien has brought a different aspect to the plate this season, and is hitting for more power, however, his average has taken a hit. His boom-or-bust approach and spot in the order limit his appeal to tournaments.
The Blue Jays slugger is off to a rocky start to put it nicely. Though he's hitting near the Mendoza Line, Tulowitzki 5-for-15 with three taters and seven RBIs in his last four games. He's a worthy contrarian play on such a slim slate.

Nothing to See Here
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) | at PHI | 4 |
| Erick Aybar (ATL) | at PIT | 4 |
| Jordy Mercer (PIT) | vs. ATL | 3 |
| Freddy Galvis (PHI) | vs. MIA | 3 |
| Brad Miller (TB) | at TOR | 3 |
The heading for this crop of players says it all. Move along; nothing to see here.
