Francona on Gomes' testicle injury: He's had better nights

Being a major-league catcher isn't an easy job, and Yan Gomes of the Cleveland Indians may have experienced the worst of the worst on Wednesday after taking a foul tip to the nether regions in the second inning of a contest against the Seattle Mariners.
After Gomes left the game and was replaced by Chris Gimenez, he was taken to a hospital for an ultrasound.
"I don’t think he's probably having the best night of his life," Indians manager Terry Francona said of Gomes.
The team is currently awaiting results about the 28-year-old backstop, who is hitting just .176/.213/.365 for the club this season.
He's two seasons removed from a stellar .278/.313/.472 slash line, which also included 21 home runs and 74 RBIs.
