Sunday's First Baseman/DH Value Rankings
Here are theScore's first baseman/DH value rankings for Sunday, June 19 (all stats exclude Saturday's games):
Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP
Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Miguel Cabrera (DET) | at KC | 9 |
Victor Martinez (DET) | at KC | 9 |
Eric Hosmer (KC) | vs. DET | 8 |
Brandon Belt (SF) | at TB | 8 |
Albert Pujols (LAA) | at OAK | 8 |
The Detroit duo hits for average, and the pair have combined for 26 homers this season, with five coming in the last two games. Chris Young has allowed 18 balls to leave the park this season, so both men are well-positioned to add to their totals.
Pujols doesn't hit for much more than power at the expense of average these days, but he's very affordable even ahead of a matchup with Oakland lefty Eric Surkamp, who holds a 8.07 ERA through seven starts.
Mid-Tier Targets

Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Paul Goldschmidt (ARI) | at PHI | 7 |
David Ortiz (BOS) | vs. SEA | 7 |

Logan Morrison (TB) | vs. SF | 7 |
Joey Votto (CIN) | at HOU | 7 |
Chris Davis (BAL) | vs. TOR | 6 |
Wil Myers (SD) | vs. WAS | 6 |

John Jaso (PIT) | at CHC | 6 |
C.J. Cron (LAA) | at OAK | 6 |
Joe Mauer (MIN) | vs. NYY | 6 |
Carlos Santana (CLE) | vs. CWS | 6 |
Hanley Ramirez (BOS) | vs. SEA | 6 |
Ryan Zimmerman (WAS) | at SD | 6 |
Mike Napoli (CLE) | vs. CWS | 5 |
Marwin Gonzalez (HOU) | vs. CIN | 5 |
Dae-Ho Lee (SEA) | at BOS | 5 |
Chris Johnson (MIA) | vs. COL | 5 |
Kendrys Morales (KC) | vs. DET | 5 |
Tommy Joseph (PHI) | vs. ARI | 5 |
Chris Carter (MIL) | at LAD | 5 |
Justin Smoak (TOR) | at BAL | 5 |
Jose Abreu (CWS) | at CLE | 5 |
Freddie Freeman (ATL) | at NYM | 5 |
Goldschmidt, Ortiz and Encarnacion are all fine options, but their elevated prices hurt their value somewhat.
Adrian Gonzalez has been largely underwhelming this season, but still hits better against righties and could take advantage of Milwaukee RHP Matt Garza, making his second start of 2016.
Freeman is blistering hot, with 10 hits over his last three games, but surely Jacob deGrom can slow him down. If his price were lower, he'd be worthy of a gamble, but he's a pricey risk, especially given the feeble lineup around him.
Nothing to See Here

Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Matt Adams (STL) | vs. TEX | 4 |
Prince Fielder (TEX) | at STL | 3 |
Mitch Moreland (TEX) | at STL | 3 |
Brandon Moss (STL) | vs. TEX | 2 |
Moss is priced shockingly high for someone hitting just .214 against lefties, and who is set to face LHP Martin Perez. All 15 of Moss' long balls have come against right-handers, so he could well find himself out of the lineup on Sunday. Fellow lefty Adams has the same issue, but he comes slightly cheaper.
